Recalls & Safety

  • Frozen pipes
Extreme cold temperature and sustained winds create the perfect opportunity for pipes to freeze. Frozen pipes can cause damage to your boiler as well as cause damage to your property from flooding. An annual inspection and cleaning of your unit will optimize efficiency. Antifreeze can be added to the unit to prevent freeze-ups.
  • Prevent puff backs!
A puff back is when a boiler cannot vent all of its products up the chimney and disposes of byproducts out of any and all openings on the boiler. This causes black powdery soot to collect on walls all over the house as well as the smell of oil to pollute the air. Also, black particles can be found in and around the boiler. One puff back can render your house uninhabitable for weeks. Puff back require special chemicals to clean off the walls and floors and comes directly out of the consumers wallet. Un-tuned and un-serviced furnaces can cause unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
  • Select a contractor
Know how to select a contractor: check credentials, ask for references, check local licenses, get a detailed written proposal, heat loss/heat gain calculation, equipment/labor warranties and guarantees, follow contract law, ask your contractor about the maintenance requirements of your new system, know and understand the contract.
  • Selecting the wrong contractor
Consequences of selecting the wrong contractor: frequent system breakdowns, improper installation, unsafe and/or inefficient operation, shortened equipment life, lack of timely service, unusually high energy bills, voiding of factory warranties, theft, property damage, or worse.

Homeowner Tips

  • Verify Contractor State Licenses and Insurance
    • Verify that the contractor that you choose has the appropriate state licenses and insurance. Consumers have lost hundreds of millions of dollars in personal assets when uninsured companies make errors (including loss of primary residence). Every year consumers are faced with lawsuits against their homeowners policies when contractors fail to carry the appropriate workers compensation insurance. Don’t let that happen to you! Finally, state licensing programs help establish a basic level of competency within the industry. If a contractor cannot produce a license, they are not qualified to work in your home!
  • Energy Efficient Appliances
Ask your technician about Energy Star appliances. Many older gas boilers only operate at about 60% efficiency. We can help you reduce your energy bills by over 30% by installing a high efficiency boiler with over 90% efficiency. These appliances such as a Baxi boiler can qualify you to receive hefty rebates from Northern Utilities as well as tax credits from the government. Baxi and other energy efficient brands will put more money into your pocket. Even changing out your thermostat to a more energy efficient one will save you money and also qualifies for rebates.
  • Residential Services 72 Degrees®
We are all properly licensed and carry all necessary insurance for your protection.
  • Radiant heat
Radiant heat is a wonderful alternative to baseboard. It supplies heat from the floor up. Because of this the floors are actually the radiators. Radiant heat is the most efficient mode of heat delivery in existence today. Comfort can be achieved at lower temperature settings because it warms people and objects directly. In fact, radiant heat can provide up 20-40% energy savings over forced hot air systems. It is a cleaner and healthier heat system because it does not rely on circulating air. Therefore, dust particles are not spread throughout the house. Radiant floor heating is also quiet when it operates and gives the consumer more usable space without bulky radiators or baseboard.
